2024 AGM Interim Report
By Keith Lear, Timeshare Owners’ Representative
The first thing I want to say about this mornings AGM is that after 9 years I had a sense of a nice community feel coming back to the resort with owners talking ,gelling , and laughing together. It was very good to see and long may that grow and continue .
At the meeting there was quite a good turnout lots of very good questions and challenges.
The normal state of play began early on from Mr Fletcher but it was very obvious that he was uncomfortable with much of the challenges made to him.
It must have been clear even to him that the owners have all had enough of the dispute and the weight of support was very much in favour of Wimpen.
Owners are sick of the dispute and just want to enjoy their holidays and have the resort refurbished!
All motions were carried with significant majority, support in voting in favour , with less than 25 against in all cases where both club and timeshare could vote together.
The open forum at the end of the meeting was useful in gathering issues to take back to the resort. In all it was a good meeting that had a real feeling of community about it.
We had a reasonable turnout and there were 1903 votes in the room or by proxy which is just over 36% of possible votes.
Roger was re elected President with a majority of over 1000 votes. I was also relected as timeshare representative.
Needless to say, Mr Fletcher did his best to make his presence felt and he faced a number of challenges from owners.
1. An owner who told she had sent £1,000 by mistake to the “committee “ money which was intended for the Community, but her request for a refund was refused.
2. Why were all owners not invited to his AGM and allowed to vote ?
3. Where is the money and how much did he spend on legal fees ?
4. Mr Fletchers failure to pass money received to the community has had a detrimental effect on the progress of the refurbishment !
He failed to provide a satisfactory answer to all the questions put to him !
Mr Fletcher left before the open forum, which was a shame because there was a useful and constructive discussion with owners on a variety of topics.
There was a discussion about the payment amnesty being offered to owners in debt to the community so unable to use the resort or their villas. Debts would be suspended if those owners paid the community this year and it was confirmed that they would not be pursued for the outstanding debt if they accept the amnesty. This is an opportunity for those owners to move on from the dispute.
This is an interim report and Roger will update you all when all the figures come in and of course you will all receive the minutes .
I would like to finish for thanking all those that attended and that used their vote . And thank you to Roger Barrow who does an outstanding job for your resort and its community.
